Virginia Fabbri Butera, Ph.D., curator of the College of St. Elizabeth’s Therese A. Maloney Gallery, has written a small article speaking about the ideas behind some of the works in the exhibition titled The Abstract Universe: Microcosm/Macrocosm.
The exhibition reveals how contemporary abstract artists are inspired by scientific ideas, images and theories in the creation of their art.

It’s fascinating to hear other artists speak about what they ponder or what moves them to create. Richard Dana says "Unlike a scientist I am making no effort to arrive at an objective truth, but like a scientist, I embrace the wonder and mystery of reality." Valerie Huhn studies water and examines the aspects of "nature being contained or restructured by man in some artificial way."
I am always impressed by the seemingly infinite nature of the imagination and the multiplicity of ways to express an idea. Photos of my artwork and some of my musings are included in Part I of the article.

this is great, michele. i actually felt chills reading your musings, such powerful stuff!
